Designer Callie Jenschke, co-founder of Austin’s Supply Showroom, brings her globally-inspired style home to Texas.
The warm Austin sunshine allows for practically year-round outdoor living.
When Callie Jenschke moved home to Texas in the summer of 2013, she did so with the goal of bringing her signature, globally-inspired aesthetic to the Lone Star State. Soon, this successful New York City interior designer (and former editor and stylist at such publications as domino, O at Home, and Metropolitan Home), partnered with Kim West and Kristin Gish, to found Supply, a boutique, to-the-trade fabric and wallpaper showroom based in Austin. Incredibly, that up-and-coming city’s burgeoning design scene then lacked a to-the-trade resource for high-end wallcoverings. At first, Supply represented a small roster of twenty designers, but that number has since grown to include more than sixty-four vendors from around the world, such as Voutsa of Los Angeles, Ottoline of London, and Georgia’s Lulie Wallace. In fact, Supply is now among Austin’s established design destinations. Located in a restored soulful 1930s bungalow, this “pattern palace” overflows with life and color, and its collections, according to Jenschke, represent styles ranging from the basics to the contemporary, from girly florals to moody geometrics.
“My style is warm, welcoming with a colorful, modern-ish tilt.”
Soon, with her showroom thriving, Jenschke broadened her focus to include family and home, marrying the love of her life, buying and renovating a new house, and eventually having two children. Close to downtown Austin, her new abode affords her the ability to ride her bike to work each day, and to fully realize her personal design vision while showcasing the finds she’s so lovingly curated at Supply. She filled her home—which was built in 2011 and is the most architecturally modern she’s ever lived in—with a mélange of curated pieces, vintage lighting, and antique rugs. From the start, Jenschke’s goal was to warm up the contemporary space’s open floor plan, and to make it a cohesive expression of her personal style. She’s accomplished this with great flair, utilizing a wide array of pattern and color—and an astonishing forty-five patterns from her showroom’s seemingly endless selection. Taken together, her shop and home represent the work of a style-setter keenly attuned to the best of both cosmopolitan trends and Texas traditions.
